Lakeside School

Starting in summer 2026, Lakeside School will begin a renovation of the ground floor in Allen-Gates Hall. This project will include new engineering and design labs and fabrication spaces, a robotics lab, expanded community space, and renovated humanities classrooms. The renovation will begin in mid-June 2026, after the end of this school year. Most of the disruptive work will be completed over the summer. The top floor of Allen-Gates will be in use during the 2026-2027 school year. The renovation is expected to be complete by spring 2027, with the space fully open for use in fall 2027.

The project will use the same project teams at the recently completed Vassar Center: LMN Architects, BNBuilders, and Seneca Group.

In spring 2026, Lakeside Upper School officially opened the doors of the T.J. Vassar ’68 Center for the Sciences and Humanities. This new academic building has 12 English and humanities classrooms; eight biology, physics, and chemistry/advanced science labs; a wide variety of spaces for collaboration and fun; and outdoor spaces for learning and community-building that will knit the building into the Upper School campus.

The City of Shoreline is currently engaged in improvements along 145th Street (which borders the north end of our Upper School campus). This affects travel to and from Lakeside. When complete, the project will improve safety, traffic congestion, and multimodal access along the 145th St. corridor and help connect Lakeside’s campus to the Shoreline S / 148th St. light rail station. Read more about the projects (including updates and maps of the affected areas) on the City of Shoreline webpage.

The 145th St. corridor is an active work zone. For everyone's safety, please reduce your speed while driving through the area. Pay attention to the construction signs and barrels as the configuration of the road changes. There is a pedestrian and bicycle pathway that connects 1st Avenue NE to the east side of the I-5 overpass and the light rail station. This path may shift slightly with construction activities.
