From now through mid-June, the City of Shoreline is restricting left turns onto 1st Avenue from westbound 145th Street. This restriction will be in place until the project is completed and striped into its final configuration in mid-June.

This means that if you are driving west towards 1st Avenue from the I-5 interchange, you will not be able to turn left on 1st.

This temporary restriction will be enforced daily from 7-9 a.m. and 3-5 p.m. to keep westbound traffic from backing up at the intersection. Backups from the left turn have been extending across the overpass and causing queuing on I-5. Once the left turn pocket is added in June, the city will allow the turn again.

Detours

Multiple detours are possible to avoid this restriction, including turning onto 1st Avenue from 130th or 155th, and westbound 145th cars turning left onto Meridian Street. No eastbound travel is affected.

Open westbound routes include:

1. Westbound 155th to southbound 1st Avenue.
2. Westbound 145th to Meridian Avenue, then turn left onto Meridian southbound to 140th or Roosevelt. Turn north (left) on 1st Avenue.
3. Westbound 130th to northbound 1st Avenue.

Overnight paving

Final paving between 1st Avenue NE and the east side of the overpass will begin overnight Monday, May 4. This work will happen overnight on weeknights (9 p.m.-5 a.m.). Access across the overpass or to the I-5 ramps may be restricted on weeknights through Friday, May 15.
