BIG CATS, March 2026: Izzy P. '27 and Tilden H. '26

Lakeside Athletics is proud to announce that Izzy P. ’27 of the girls lacrosse team, and Tilden H. ’26 of the baseball team have been named BIG CAT Award recipients for the month of March!

The BIG CAT Award, which recognizes exceptional athletic performance, dedication, and sportsmanship, is a monthly honor presented to two standout Lakeside athletes – one from a boys’ sport and one from a girls’ sport – who exemplify excellence in athletic performance, leadership, and sportsmanship. The selection of the BIG CAT Award recipients is a collaborative process involving coaches and athletic staff. Each month, coaches nominate athletes from their teams who have demonstrated exceptional contributions to their sport, team culture, and overall positive influence on their teammates.

On the lacrosse field, Izzy P. has delivered an outstanding month, with an impressive 27 goals while also creating opportunities for her teammates with 13 assists. Her all-around impact extended beyond scoring, as she secured 8 draw controls to help her team gain possession and added a caused turnover on the defensive end. This is Izzy’s third year as a starter, and her first as a captain, leading the Lions through a competitive 2026 schedule.

“Izzy has stepped up in a big way offensively (and in the midfield) after graduating such a large class last year that had really controlled our offense,” said girls lacrosse program head Claire Monsaas. “She's not been subbed out once this season and makes an impact in every play. She's been incredibly helpful on and off the field with a team of primarily new players to our sport.”

On the diamond, Tilden H. has been nothing short of dominant in the opening month of the season. On the mound, he went a perfect 3–0 in starts against Auburn Riverside, O’Dea, and Eastside Catholic, posting a stellar 1.00 ERA while striking out 20 batters and issuing just four walks. At the plate, Tilden was equally impressive, hitting .462 with six doubles, seven RBIs, and seven runs scored, consistently providing a spark for the Lakeside offense. Defensively, he anchors the team behind the plate when not pitching, showcasing leadership and reliability as a rare two-way, multi-position standout.

“A two-year captain for our baseball program, Tilden sets the tone in every aspect of the game,” said baseball program head Kellen Sundin. “He has firmly established himself as one of, if not the top player in the Metro League through the season’s first month, and has set himself up for a stellar end to his Lakeside baseball career.”

Congratulations to Izzy and Tilden on being named our March 2026 BIG CATS!
