Curriculum Night 2026 FAQs

Curriculum Night is an opportunity for current Upper School parents and guardians to hear about Lakeside’s course selection and sign-up process. Lakeside's curriculum provides students with a wide variety of choices and is constantly evolving, with teachers offering new classes every year.

The Curriculum Night event covers important dates and guidance for course selection, so parents and guardians can support their students in choosing courses for the 2026-2027 school year.

Here are some answers to commonly asked questions that parents and guardians have about these events.


When is Curriculum Night?
Classes of 2027, 2028, and 2029 (current 11th, 10th, and 9th graders) Curriculum Night for Upper School parents and guardians is Monday, Feb. 2. The event is in-person in St. Nicholas Hall, and runs from 7-8:30 p.m.


Who should attend?
Curriculum Night is intended for parents and guardians of current 9th, 10th, and 11th graders. Students should not attend; they will receive information about the course selection and sign-up process from teachers, advisors, and the academic dean. 


What should I do if I need an interpreter?
Interpreter services can be arranged through Latasia Lanier, family support liaison, at info@lakesideschool.site or 206-440-2887.


When will the 2026-2027 Course Catalog be released? 
The course catalog for 2026-2027 will be posted online on Monday, Feb. 2. This date is new, and later than in previous years. 


My student is a current Lakeside 8th grader. When is the Curriculum Night for the Class of 2030?
Curriculum Night for current Lakeside 8th-grade students is Tuesday, Feb. 10. Families will receive information closer to the event. There will also be a Curriculum Night for newly enrolled families on Monday, March 16.


How do current Middle School families learn about the course selection process at the Middle School?
The Middle School hosts a welcome event for each grade in the spring. At these events, Middle School administrators talk about the academic, developmental, and co-curricular aspects of each grade. Middle School families will receive further information closer to the event.


I’m unable to attend Curriculum Night. Can I receive the information another way?
This in-person event will be recorded, and the recording and slides from the presentation will be posted in the days following the event on the parents and guardians webpage. 


My student has questions about spring 2026 course changes. Who should they go to?
Students will receive an email on Friday, Jan. 9, from Hans de Grys, academic dean, with course change FAQs, detailed instructions for spring course changes, and links to necessary forms. Students can refer to this email or contact their advisor or de Grys with questions.
