Lakeside’s community-wide commitment to equity and inclusion work is supported by a robust diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB) team. The team works with students, faculty, staff, and parents and guardians on a variety of projects and undertakings.

Here is a rundown of who is on the team for the 2025-2026 school year and their areas of focus.

Interim Director of Equity and Inclusion Paul Johnson is leading this work at an institutional level for the 2025-2026 school year. He collaborates with other administrators, the Board of Trustees, and the Parents and Guardians Association to implement efforts to make Lakeside a place where each person feels a part of the community.

Assistant Director of Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging Omar Rachid Zaim plans and facilitates faculty programming on culturally responsive practice in both divisions, and collaborates with the director of equity and inclusion on all-school programs, including hiring and retention. He works with faculty in their departments and individually.

Middle School Social Studies Teacher and Department Head Krista Morales is the Middle School student equity program coordinator. She is the lead for the affinity group program and collaborates with faculty to ensure the affinity curriculum supports and builds on student learning.

LEEP Director and Family Support and Rainer Scholars Liaison Latasia Lanier is the Upper School student equity program coordinator. She is the lead for the affinity group program at the Upper School and works on student programming.

LEEP Assistant Director AJ Turner is coordinator of special projects, working on projects related to student experience and alum-student mentoring.
