Lakeside School

October in the performing arts is a joyful time. Students are getting used to new instruments, rehearsing for the fall play, and preparing for a busy November performance season. We invite you to join us as we bring out curiosity, creativity, and play through the performing arts. 

The Upper School fall play, "Peter and the Star Catcher," directed by drama teacher Alban Dennis, will be performed on Nov. 13, 14, and 15 at 7 p.m. in St. Nicholas Hall. Be sure to stop by the Pigott Family Arts Center gallery before the show to see the student artwork on display.

Our music ensembles, grades 6–12, will perform the following week: the choir concert, conducted by Mary Clementi, on Nov. 18; the orchestra concert conducted by Erica Johansen on Nov. 19; and the band and jazz band concert, conducted by Brianna Slone and Eric Patterson, on Nov. 20. All concerts begin at 6:30 p.m. in St. Nicholas Hall.

On Dec. 17, we invite you back for the Lakeside New Works Festival, an evening of original short plays from Drama 8 and Drama IV students. This cross-divisional project teaches students how to craft stories for the stage and gives them the chance to share their voices with an audience. From the playful and imaginative work of the 8th graders to the thoughtful, often more mature writing of the seniors, the evening promises to be both joyful and inspiring.

And finally, if your student is looking for more ways to get great music instruction, consider registering your student for the Lakeside lesson program. Instruction is available on campus, on Zoom, or at instructors’ studios, with registration open now.
