by Mary Clementi, music teacher/performing arts department head

Thank you to all who joined us for an eventful winter of arts performances, including the Middle School musical and concerts by our bands, choirs, and orchestras. There’s more to come!

March performing arts performances kick off with the Upper School musical, “Hadestown,” with shows on Thursday, March 6, Friday, March 7, and Saturday, March 8. The three evening shows begin at 7 p.m., and a Saturday matinee at 2 p.m., in St. Nicholas Hall. Please plan to arrive 20 minutes early.

There is no cost to attend, but you’ll need to register to reserve your spot for this much-anticipated performance! Tickets are likely to sell out. Reserve yours through the links below, limit three per family per performance.

Care for a night on the town? Come see Lakeside Jazz band at the Royal Room in Columbia City on Monday, March 10 at 7 p.m. The evening will include an opening set played by the Lakeside faculty jazz group. Doors open at 6 p.m. and admission is first-come, first-served. The Royal Room is an all-ages venue until 10 p.m.

Next, join us in McKay Chapel on Tuesday, March 18 at 6:30 p.m. for an Upper School choir and beat-making concert. On Wednesday, March 26, we’ll have an Upper School symphony concert combining the 9th-12th grade band and orchestra.

In late April, let loose with some tunes from the Upper School jazz band at their concert on Monday, April 28, at 6:30 p.m. in St. Nicholas Hall. Keep your week of artistic enjoyment going with the 6th-8th grade choir concert (6th-8th grades) on Tuesday, April 29 at 6:30 p.m. and the 5th-8th grade orchestra concert on Wednesday, April 30, both in the Middle School’s Evans Theater. The 5th-6th grade orchestra goes on at 6 p.m., and 7th-8th at 7 p.m.

Stay tuned for news about other spring performances and our annual Arts Fest!
