Lakeside School

When Bonnie Schock reflects on building the skills she uses now as the CEO of Tucson’s historic Fox Theatre, she recalls how she worked with teachers who encouraged her agency throughout her years at Lakeside. She describes how Lakeside created an atmosphere that “supported people making brave choices while still being rigorous.” From creating her own plays to enjoying the collegelike freedom of the campus, she was prepared to hit the ground running at Evergreen State College.

After Evergreen, Schock worked in a variety of theater scenes in St. Paul, Minnesota, and Tucson, Arizona, diving into the local arts that to her have “an authenticity that speaks to the universal.” She now works to aid the vibrant art community of Tucson and to help up-and-coming artists as her teachers once did for her.
